What is the difference between in-store and direct ship?Direct ship allows you to send a storage device directly to the Data Recovery Agents at Geek Squad City. Just give us a call at 1-866-438-3338 and we'll send you packaging materials and pre-paid labels you can use to send us the device.
How does direct ship work?Start by giving us a call at 1-866-438-3338. We'll discuss your needs and determine the best approach to recovering your data. Next, we'll send you a package with a pre-paid shipping label so you can easily and securely send us your drive. We'll take a look at the drive and confirm an exact estimate for the recovery process. With your approval, we'll recover your data and send it and your original drive back to you safe and sound.
What do you need to recover my data?Technically, we only need the physical hard drive or storage media. If the data is on a drive in a computer or other device, schedule a reservation at your local Geek Squad Precinct and an Agent will remove the hard drive or storage media for you. Also, if you can provide a list of the specific files you are looking for, it will help us ensure we recover what you need but we can start digging.
When will I receive my recovered data?Data recovery is tricky depending on the exact device that failed and the nature of the failure so the time it takes to recover files can vary as much as the price does. Once we recover your files, we save them to an appropriate external media and ship it back to the Precinct or to you.
