If becoming one of the world’s best installers is one of your career goals, then you should settle for nothing less than becoming a Mobile Electronics Certified Professional (MECP) Master Certified Autotech. Master MECP status is required for this position, along with three years of related professional experience.
These people really know their stuff. MECP Master Certified Autotechs must be able to service and install car stereo components, speakers, amplifiers, portable audio, GPS and navigation devices, keyless entry systems, remote starters, mobile video, security systems and complex OEM systems.
They also must show proficiency in these areas:
- • Complex vehicle integration
- • Complex video and navigation systems
- • Enclosure design and fabrication
- • Install mobile electronics to Geek Squad® quality standards
- • Oversee the installation center, and provide leadership and training for employees
- • Assist in optimizing installation center efficiency and profitability
- • Design component systems with equipment available for sale by Geek Squad® and Best Buy®, as requested by the customer
- • Assist customers, sell products and services, and complete business transactions
- • Explain equipment operation to customers upon completion of installation
- • Provide administrative support to the installation bay
- • Participate in quarterly communications with corporate mobile team
- • Assist with product testing and assortment decisions
- • Pass MECP Master Exam
- • At least three years of related professional experience
