On a typical day off, a typical Geek Squad Agent would just sit back, relax and play World of Warcraft. Some would attempt to go on a date.
One day, being bored out of my mind I decided to do some searches on the internet on Case Mods. It entails converting a computer into a work of art. While online, I saw a couple of good case Mods but one caught my eye in particular…..the Nintendo Entertainment System. Yes, that loveable grey box that we all grew up with, which became one of the most popular game systems of all time.
The NES Case Mod was first designed by a man named Tim Wasson. I loved his design, and I wanted to build on it. Buying the parts was going to be the tricky part I had to go to many different computer websites to see where I can get these very small parts and also while doing that thinking on how the design was going to have that special look and feel to it. I had to identify which parts would work best. All I know for sure is that I had to keep it like the original NES. I wanted to feel like I was 9 again.
First I had to modify the case using plexi glass to support computer components, such as the Mainboard, Power supply, Hard drive etc. I integrated the controller ports in the NES system to work through the internal USB that I installed on the inside. I also added a wireless card and installed it inside the Nintendo so I can still access the internet wirelessly.
This Nintendo was going to be the ultimate system ever. Even the Power Glove, Uforce and light gun all work on the system!
I was so happy to see that all the games that I love as a kid can now be played on the Nintendo and I did not even have to blow on the cartridge. This project was such a success that I was told by friends and fellow Agents to make another so this mission was a complete success.
Next Mission…the Sega Saturn! Stay Tuned….
