Connecting to Wireless Networks in Windows 8

Objective

One of the tricks of living in today's connected world is figuring how to get your device to interact with the nearest available network. Because Windows 8 is designed to work well with touch and mobile devices, this functionality is greatly improved with this version of the system.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  1. A PC running Windows 8
  2. A wireless network or hotspot

PROCEDURE

Windows 8 offers the same great wireless networking capabilities of previous versions of Windows, but the procedure is just a bit different:

  1. Open the Charms bar
  2. Select "Settings"
  3. Select the Wireless Network icon
  4. Select your local network name from the list of available networks
  5. Enter your password or passphrase (if secured)
  6. Select "Connect"

Connecting to a wireless network in Windows 8 is easy. First watch the charms bar, select settings and then select the wireless network icon.
